  1. Hi! The route of the Junction Canal is slightly different from that shown just east of the M5 motorway. You show what was (approximately) the original alignment. The new cut which was completed in 2009 runs in a loop slightly to the north – you can see the new alignment in some sketch maps etc on my website “Droitwich Canals Restoration in Pictures” (at http://www.leepd60.110mb.com).

    All the best!

    • The only part of the through route that needs to be completed is the canalisation of the River Salwarpe about 200m west of the M5 through to the Barge Lock in Vines Park (the head of the Barge Canal).
The work to do this section started in October 2010 and should be complete in spring 2011 (say, April or May).

  2. I cycled the entire length of the Droitwich canals Saturday (& walked back with a dead bike!) I have read quite a bit about the canalised section of teh River Salwarper to join the Junction with the Barge canal. Were these two ever linked in the past? What became of the previous link of it was? Did it get built on e.g. Was it the small industrial unit adjacent to the road?
